UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, continues with the roll-out of a harmonized cash card assistance programme in Greece.
The programme is being rolled out throughout Greece, as humanitarian aid to support refugee individuals and families to meet their most basic needs, including complementary food, communication, hygiene products, transportation, clothing and education material for the children. The programme aims to promote greater self-reliance, re-establish dignity and provide choice while allowing refugees to meet their household’s basic needs and support the local community.
By the end of July 2017 cash card assistance will reach all asylum seekers in Greece.
The cash card assistance programme is being implemented throughout Greece in coordination with the Ministry of Migration Policy and thanks to funding by the European Commission.
The programme is carried out with the valuable support of the following partners: International Rescue Committee (IRC), International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), Mercy Corps, Samaritan’s Purse, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Care.
